Bridge to Paradise

A bridge set in the middle distance that’s stood the test of time and rural traffic that’s encroached it, perhaps journeying to the hamlet of farmhouses pictured to the immediate right hand side of it, smoke billowing from the chimney breasts. The green, green grass of an approaching spring is painted in the foreground, spilling forth unto and met by the river’s edge and cusp, whilst the background is one of ranging mountains rising high and mighty above the aforementioned settlement, and indeed the ‘paradise’ signposted in the title of this stirring composition. The scene painted is, it’s fair to say, a typical Duncan Palmer one, the leading contemporary landscape artist whose latest piece entitled ‘Bridge to Paradise’ is described verbatim above. Striking a perfect, considered balance and measured weightiness, the colours are both evocative and enigmatic and lend real depth to the already layered subject matter.
