In the aftermath of both his mother and then his father’s untimely and premature demises (within 3 years of each other whilst Fabian Perez was in his late teens), the emotionally-troubled contemporary figurative artist-in-the-making chose to turn to the discipline associated with martial arts to help him overcome his seismic losses during this turbulent passage of time. A chance crossing of paths with Sensei Oscar paved the way for him to later became a mentor, close friend and father figure to Perez as he eventually learned to find peace through study of martial arts. However all the time Perez was seeking equal solace in his art, and readily turned to his painting to help him come to terms with his enduring grief. The compositional upshot was the emergence of a plethora of illustratively enlightening works, which today manifests in such inspiring giclee on board number ssuch as this, Perez’s very latest Spring 2016 example, entitled ‘Kayleigh at the Ritz II’.
