Volcanic activity on distant planets found on the outer edges of our own solar system is the inspiration behind Kerry Darlington’s brand new Spring 2015 release, entitled ‘Olympus Mons’. In a departure from her more characteristic Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and, well, tree compositions, the ever versatile and visually engaging contemporary fine artist has caught us all on the wrong illustrative foot by unveiling this hand embellished and glossed Unique Edition to an otherwise unsuspecting audience. Essentially one of the volcanically active moons orbiting Mars, ‘Olympus Mons’ is seemingly teeming with visceral, liquid energy and graphically explosive fissures which the ever resourceful Darlington has captured with steely determination and aplomb; as is her habitual pictorial way as proven over a number of years to date.
